The Insider’s Guide To… Injectable Moisturiser (Are the PROFHILO Reviews All Hype?)

Generally, people are divided into one of two camps when it comes to PROFHILO® injectable moisturiser. Those who simply can’t read enough about the latest injectable moisturiser treatment and those who are struggling with the point of an injectable moisturiser ?. Whilst there have been a few Profhilo reviews extolling its virtues, we thought we’d row things back a bit. Read on for a bit more on what is Profhilo treatment and is it just another way for the beauty industry to relieve you of your money!

What is Profhilo and how does it work?

Unless you’ve been in hiding for the last decade, you probably know that hyaluronic acid is often revered as some sort of anti-ageing Ambrosia for the skin. It’s true that hyaluronic acid can hydrate, firm and plump up the skin. BUT these benefits are only truly seen when its injected. Hence the success and popularity of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers which can temporarily lift, volumise and smooth out skin. For the longest time, it was widely accepted that if you just wanted to enjoy the hydrating properties of hyaluronic acid, then opt for it in a moisturiser. If you wanted anything else then you would need hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. These, however, would also provide volume and shape to the skin regardless of whether you wanted that or not.

It is in this gap between topical hyaluronic acid and dermal fillers that that injectable moisturisers like PROFHILO® have been hoping to make a dent. Whilst hyaluronic acid molecules in regular moisturisers simply sit on the surface of skin and attract water, injectable moisturiser treatments deliver the hyaluronic acid deep into the skin to not only hydrate but also stimulate collagen and elastin production to regenerate the skin. A number of the established dermal filler brands have already tried their hand at “skin boosting injections” most notably Juvéderm Volite, Teosyal Redensity 1 and Restylane Skinboosters. Profhilo seems to however have caught the public’s imagination because it promises to bioremodel the skin.

Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid which is stabilised (cross-linked) using heat to give a highly concentrated but very thin product that can easily disperse and spread when injected in the skin. It not only hydrates the skin but also stimulates collagen and elastin production hence its popularity for treating skin laxity and sagging.

Does anyone really need an injectable moisturiser and are all those Profhilo reviews real?

No one ever needs anything that isn’t necessary for basic survival. However, if you have dry or crepey or sagging skin that bothers you, then you might really enjoy Profhilo. There are also other injectable skincare treatments that work well as alternatives like Juvederm Volite . In the right candidate, this treatment can give you firmer, plumper, smoother and more radiant skin. Obviously we can’t speak for reviews and articles published elsewhere. However, we started offering Profhilo injectable moisturiser treatments  because of all of the evidence. There is good data to support its safety, efficacy and clinical outcomes.

One thing that’s important to highlight is that Profhilo is not a one-off treatment. Most people will require 2-3 sessions a month apart. To maintain the effect you should touch up every 6-8 months. Like any beauty treatment, results vary between individuals in terms of outcomes and longevity.

Which is better – Botox, fillers or Profhilo?

Whilst Profhilo injections can help enhance the texture, quality and appearance of your skin, it is not a silver bullet. It is fantastic for thin, sagging and crepey skin but does very little for deeper wrinkles or lost volume. You can however use Profhilo alongside traditional aesthetic treatments such as Botox anti-wrinkle injections to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Profhilo also works well with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to sculpt, lift and volumise the skin.
