New Series Announcement… What’s Up With My Skin?

Hello everyone, as you may have noticed we have upped our game on the blogging front this month. Our main aim is to use The Modern Salon as a platform for all women to feel empowered, beautiful and most importantly educated. We have been using beauty as a tool to dive deeper into societal issues that can affect women and aim to continue to bring you more engaging posts and interviews. Of course, alongside this we bring to you the latest fuss-free beauty tips, reviews and views. For today however, I would like to introduce you to our new blog series, What’s Up With My Skin?

There are numerous skin concerns that can really affect your confidence and test your bank balance. Many of us spend hundreds of pounds on creams, oils, serums, and treatments without the proper knowledge of what our skin really needs. The mental health effects of some conditions left untreated can be detrimental. Taking acne, for example, Dermatologist Anjali Mahto, author of ‘The Skincare Bible’ argues that it affects up to 80% of the population at some point, however, the “psychological burden often goes completely unrecognized”. Personally, I have opened up about my experience with hormonal acne and can honestly say that my confidence has been more than rocked through the process. Not only this, my experience is an ongoing one, my longing for healthy, clear and bright looking skin is a continuous journey. It doesn’t solve itself overnight. It can be hard to find the right products, and most importantly the right professional advice that you can relate to and trust.

If you are anything like me almost 1 year ago, which was completely exhausted, and mind boggled from endless self-research, then we have your back! There are so many products, treatments and opinions out there and understanding which one is suitable for you can be extremely overwhelming. This is not only relating to skincare but also aesthetic treatment options. We would like to bring this blog to you as a one-stop shop whereby you get properly acquainted with your skin type, concerns, and effective methods to treat them. We want to cut through the confusion and point you in the right direction towards the most effective management and treatment options specifically for your individual concerns.

Our objective with these posts, is to use an integrated and holistic approach which will be reinforced with scientific research to give you a better understanding of how to achieve healthy skin. In short, want you to regain control of your beauty experience!

Starting as we mean to go on…

We wouldn’t want to tease you with the announcement of a new blog series and not give you a little sneak peak at one of our most anticipated editions which covers ageing and volume loss. It is a process that happens as time goes on! Whilst we cannot stop this from happening, we can delay the signs of ageing through a few simple lifestyle measures and a targeted skincare routine containing anti-oxidants like Vitamin C, hydraters like hyaluronic acid and preventatives like Retinol

A holistic approach to lifestyle and skincare can help to reduce the visible signs of skin ageing and prevent and delay premature skin ageing. Understanding the way that internal and external factors affect the skin’s structure and function can help you make informed choices about treatment and care. We hope this has been helpful. Thank you for reading. Be sure to watch out for this weeks Sunday Vibes post.  If you haven’t seen it already yesterday’s Skin Food Saturday dissected why we need to drink more water.  Next week we will be bringing you even more content so stay tuned and happy Sunday fellow city girls! <3
