About City Skin Clinic

City Skin Clinic is a UK online clinic for prescription skin and hair treatments, founded and led by Dr Amel Ibrahim, a GMC-registered doctor. We treat acne, rosacea, melasma, hyperpigmentation and skin ageing, as well as hair loss in women and men and patchy beard growth. Everything we prescribe is topical, designed for you from scratch and delivered to your home.

How Our Online Clinic Works

You start with an online consultation, either a video call or a detailed form, whichever suits you. Your doctor reviews your skin or hair along with your medical history and goals, then designs a formula and protocol for you rather than picking one off a shelf. A specialist UK pharmacy compounds it and posts it to your door. The same doctor stays with you afterwards. You can message them with questions, and at the end of each course they review your progress and adjust the formula, because skin and hair can change as they respond to treatment.

There are no subscriptions. You order only when you’re ready, and the £30 consultation fee comes off your first treatment.

Meet Dr Amel Ibrahim

I studied Medicine at Imperial College London, completed core surgical training and became one of the youngest people to gain membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. My PhD in regenerative medicine was on growing new tissue for children born with facial deformities. So I have spent my working life studying how skin and hair grow, how they heal and how they change.

I have also had acne all my life and know what it is like to be handed the same treatment as everyone else and told to wait and see. When I founded City Skin Clinic, it was in response to a contradiction I couldn’t ignore. As a doctor, I would never give two very different patients identical treatment and call it care, yet that’s exactly how skincare is sold. Hair loss is even worse. Men get offered the same two drugs wherever they look, whilst there are even fewer options for women. Real personalisation isn’t a quiz that sorts you into a category. It’s a doctor who assesses you, designs a treatment specifically for you then adjusts the protocol as needed.

So I built the clinic I couldn’t find. City Skin Clinic opened in London in 2016 as an aesthetic skin clinic, first in the City and Crouch End, then on Harley Street. Those years taught me results didn’t come from procedures alone. The best results came from skin protocols designed around each patient. However, the people who needed them most could rarely get to a central London clinic. So in 2020, we opened our online clinic to provide custom prescription-strength skin and hair treatments throughout the UK. By mid 2023, we closed our Harley Street doors for good and became a fully online clinic, where every treatment is designed from scratch for each person and adjusted over time by the same doctor as you respond. That, to me, is what personalisation really means.
