SUNDAY VIBES | A MODEL RECOMMENDS, AVOCADO & MORE…

There’s quite definitely a noticeable chill in the air this weekend. So its the perfect excuse to stay in, get cozy and indulge in a little beauty. We’ve put together a little treat this week in terms of tips and our YouTube channel of the week! Also, don’t forget its Cyber weekend 2017 so we’ve got plenty of advice as to how you can boost your beauty routine without breaking the bank. With that, pour yourself a cup of the (or coffee), pop your feet up and enjoy this week’s beauty digest from The Blog.

YouTube Beauty Channel To Check Out

This week, we’re super excited to feature A Model Recommends. Ruth Crilly is a model, writer and ultimate beauty insider. Her professional blog, A Model Recommends, is a flawless combination of skincare, makeup and lifestyle advice. We’re especially fond of the YouTube channel which features beauty tips and product reviews that are clearly aimed at savvy and busy women (Ruth herself is now a mother of two). The evolution of her channel and blog from young model to a working mother is very identifiable and impressive. Not to be missed are her makeup for lifting tired eyes and cleansing oils for added benefits videos. Check her out on Instagram and Twitter for more professional beauty tips interweaved with a bit of Brit banter and the cutest pets.

Hair & Skincare Tip To Try

We can no longer pretend to ignore the fabulous Avocado. Not content with being the defining element for the brunch staple of a generation, the Avocado is also one of nature’s gifts to beauty. Avocados are packed with Vitamins A, B and E as well as minerals and natural fats. Altogether this provides a powerful skin boosting cocktail which leaves even the driest skin feeling hydrated and moisturised.

For a nourishing face and hair mask, mash a ripe avocado then split into equal parts into two bowls. For the face mask, add a tablespoon of honey (great for acne or redness), two tablespoons of natural yoghurt (for spots or ageing skin)  and a tablespoon of oatmeal (for dry flaky skin). Mix the mask and apply to cleansed skin for 10-15 minutes. Wash off the mixture and massage on your favourite skin serums and moisturiser for smooth and glowing skin.

For your hair, take the other half of the mashed avocado and whisk in a quarter of a cup of olive oil. Apply to combed hair (damp or dry) and wrap hair in a warm towel or shower cap for 30 minutes. After which, rinse off the mixture and wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner as usual. This mixture leaves hair incredibly smooth, shiny and conditioned. If you have oily or greasy hair then add juice from half a lemon to the mixture.
