Non-Surgical Brow Lift: The Complete Guide

Often as we age, the brow and eye area are the first to show physical signs of ageing. This could be through drooping, fine lines and wrinkles, or hooding of the eye area. Sometimes even younger people may have heavy or droopy looking brows, hooded eyes or suffer from brow asymmetry. Many people opt for brow lift treatments to help tackle the signs of ageing or to sculpt and reshape their brow.

While surgical options exist and can have excellent results, the rising popularity of non-surgical treatments shows that patients are more eager for options that are simpler, temporary and safer. This can mean more regular treatments are necessary, as the results of non-surgical treatments typically last for a shorter time than their surgical counterparts. While this may be a downside to some, many people consider this a better way to take control of their brow lift journey and ensure that the treatment they use works for them.

What Is A Non-Surgical Brow Lift?

Non-surgical brow lifts involve the use of Botox anti-wrinkle injections and/or dermal fillers to make the skin around the brow tauter and raise the brow. There are a few options available for non-surgical brow lifts, as we will discuss below. The key benefits of non surgical options are that they are minimally invasive, quick, temporary and have no down time. Surgical options however offer more dramatic results and the effect can last for years.

Non-surgical brow lifts are ideal for people with milder signs of ageing or who are looking for a subtle raise, as the effects may not be sufficient for those with more advanced brow drooping, hooding or wrinkling.

Non-surgical treatment can be perfect for those experiencing the first signs of ageing and who want to avoid further wrinkling or drooping, helping to boost confidence in middle age and beyond. Non surgical brow lifts are also popular with younger people who may simply want to enhance the shape of their brow, raise the position or reduce the appearance of a hooded eye.

Types Of Non-Surgical Brow Lifts

At City Skin Clinic, we use three types of non-surgical brow lifts. These are:

  • Chemical brow lift
  • Liquid brow lift
  • Master combined brow lift

The Chemical Brow Lift (Botox Brow Lift)

This is the simplest non surgical brow lift. We use Botox anti-wrinkle injections to relax the muscle fibres that pull down on the brow. Relaxation of these muscles allows the brow to take a higher position and appear more lifted. This brow lift also makes the skin around the brow appear tauter helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment is also excellent for brow shaping and depending on the injection points can be used to give the eyebrows an enhanced arch or raise the tail of the brow and straighten or a combination of the two.

The Liquid Brow Lift (Dermal Fillers Brow Lift)

This non surgical brow lifting technique uses hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to raise and shape the brow. It provides more of an effect compared with the chemical brow lift and is hence more severe brow drooping or hooding of the eyes. Like with the Botox brow lift, dermal filler brow lifts can also help reshape the eyebrows..

The Master Combined Brow Lift (Botox & Dermal Fillers Brow Lift)

This is a combination of anti-wrinkle injections and hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that we have developed at City Skin Clinic. We use this combined Botox and dermal fillers brow lift to lift and reshape the brow area. The combination of relaxing the muscle fibres that pull down on the brow and skin as well as using dermal fillers to sculpt and support hence providing the most dramatic results. This is ideal for those with more advanced signs of ageing around the brow area or who need more significant reshaping or lifting.

How Does A Non-Surgical Brow Lift Work?

Non-surgical brow lifts either use anti-wrinkle injections to oppose muscles that pull down the brow and hence raise it or dermal fillers to act as a scaffold (or bra) for the brow and help elevate it or a combination of the two. The treatments can be used to lift and reshape the brows as well as reduce asymmetry. The best option will depend on what your concerns are, goals and the structure of your face and brows. At City Skin Clinic, your non-surgical brow lift will take place in our medical aestheticclinic and be carried out by an experienced doctor or dentist. The first step many patients take is the consultation, during which the patient and their doctor will discuss their concerns and goals for the non-surgical brow lift. The doctor will also advise which of the three non-surgical brow lift treatments we offer are most appropriate for their needs. During the procedure, your doctor will numb the area using a  topical numbing cream before the procedure is carried out.

The injections will then be made to the areas being targeted. The procedure will usually last between 10 and 20 minutes, and afterwards, patients will be able to carry out all of their normal daily activities. The procedure is also typically painless, with fine needles or microcannulas used to carry out the injections. Some minor discomfort may occur, but this is rare.

How Long Does A Non-Surgical Brow Lift Last?

The length of time a non-surgical brow lift lasts will depend on the type of treatment a patient chooses and how advanced the signs of ageing are. Botox brow lifts usually last around 3-4 months. Typically, dermal filler and combined master brow lifts tend to last for between 6 months to over a year depending on the type of dermal filler used. Patients may need regular top-up appointments to continue to see the results they desire.

This makes non-surgical brow lifts an excellent option for anyone who wants greater control over the appearance of their brows or a temporary solution. In addition, non-surgical brow lifts and their follow-up requirements may also be a lot more cost-effective than a surgical option, with significantly less risk and down-time.

Non-Surgical Brow Lift Recovery And Aftercare

Recovery from non-surgical brow lifts is relatively painless and swift. Patients will be able to go about their normal activities straight away. However, after any type of injectable treatment, you may be advised to not touch the area for a few hours  afterwards and patients should always follow their doctor’s instructions carefully.

Aftercare for non-surgical brow lifts can make all the difference to the results you see. Patients should generally take care of themselves and their bodies, eating a healthy balanced diet and getting the right amount of sleep. Patients should also avoid common risk factors such as going out in the sun without high SPF sun protection, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol and smoking.

Non-Surgical Brow Lift Before And After

The positive results of non-surgical brow lifts are subtle but in the right patient very effective.. This treatment can provide a more youthful, structured, lifted wide-eyed appearance. Effective, safe and non-invasive brow treatments can make all the difference in restoring confidence and a positive self-image.

In addition, as non-invasive options, patients will experience a shorter recovery time and will be able to enjoy their new look almost immediately. This can include eyebrows that are lifted, eyebrows with a better arch, reduced drooping skin and improved appearance of hooded eyes.

Non-Surgical Brow Lift Side Effects

Compared to surgical brow lifts, the possible side effects from non-surgical treatments are very small if performed by a qualified and experienced medical practioner using high quality products. The most common side effect is a slight chance of mild bruising or swelling around the injection site. This does howeverclear up quickly. More serious side effects such as infection, allergy and vascular occlusion are extremely rare in the hands of skilled and experienced practioners.

With surgical procedures, there are risks associated with a general anaesthetic and possible operative complications like infection, nerve injury or scarring. One of the critical advantages of non-surgical brow lifts is that the possible side effects are nowhere near as intense or complex as surgical options if it is performed by a qualified medical practitioner. This level of safety and reassurance is why many people opt for non surgical treatment even if it is only subtle and more regular treatments are needed to maintain the effect.

Non-Surgical Brow Lift Cost

The cost of non-surgical brow lifts depends on the type of treatment performed. Typically the cost in London is anywhere between £200 and £600 upwards per treatment, depending on the option a patient chooses. Patients may be tempted to select a cut-price treatment, but this is never a good idea. The price a patient pays for their treatment will determine the quality of the final result, including the services of a quality, experienced doctor, the injections themselves, and the aftercare provided.

The fees for a non-surgical brow lift start at £200 here at City Skin Clinic, with the upper limit for a more complex master combined brow lift being set at £550. In addition, we charge £30 for our consultation fee, which is taken off the total amount of the treatment a patient ends up receiving. Compared to more invasive and complex options like surgical brow lifts, non-surgical treatments can be an incredibly good value for money.
